In 1928, Otto Graef, a German watchmaker and owner of MIMO bought out GIRARD - PERREGAUX.
(MIMO: Manufacture Internationale de Montres Or/Originaly an International Maker of Gold Cased Watches)
This 1943 MIMO with modified 1943 K.F. 410 9 Jewel movement was originally sold to German Soldiers. The MIMO MONITOR came in matte black and matte white, with, depending on use, either lume or raised brass pinned numeral.
After World War II Otto Graef demanded that all service-issue watches given to German Military Men and those that had not left the factory were to be destroyed so they would not flood the commercial market.

At the beginning, in 1888 as the brothers Kurth founded their company called Kurth Frères, only watch parts and movements were produced. These were sold to Switzerland and France. Various manual wind calibers were produced until 1947 when they introduced their first self-winding caliber in 1950.
Kurth Frères famous brand was Certina and their movements were of enhanced grade and known for rugged use. High end KF movements are found now and then in the US market due to intensive cooperation with Illinois.
In older watches Certina calibres are often listed as K.F. calibres or Kurth-Frères calibres.
